Streaming MP3s

Just in case you don't know how to stream mp3s online, here is how:

Create a text file with only the url to the mp3 inside of it.

Save it with a ".m3u" extention on it.

example: test.m3u
Code:
http://www.yourdomain.com/test.mp3
Now just link to the m3u file and it will stream with whatever program you have setup in your computer that associates with the m3u extention.

btw.. if you want to stream real media on a server that doesn't support it, just do the same thing, except replace the "m3u" extention with "rm"

Interesting. I use Andromeda (a postnuke module) for streaming. However, I thought I tried an *.rm file sometime ago (without Andromeda) and it didn't work. I could very easily be wrong. Is there another extension that realmedia uses? I converted from a digital videocamera source. Anyone using it had to download the entire thing before using it.

there are other parameters like "bgsound" , but most don't work with netscape and i.e. it's best to use the embed tag.
Code:
<EMBED SRC="sound_file.mp3" WIDTH=1 HEIGHT=1 HIDDEN="true" AUTOSTART="true" LOOP="false"></EMBED>
fun

of course replace "sound_file.mp3" into your home directory.

also, .. why are you using angelfire?
