computer Name or Mac Address

I have a Frontpage discussion board that does not require a login of any type. I current can obtain IP addresses from poster, can I log their computer name or "MAC Address" from their post using HTML of Javascript?

It depends, log it to where? You really can't write to files on the server with Javascript since its a client-side language, there are ways but its more trouble than its worth. Did you create the discussion completely in Frontpage? It might have an option to log the information you want, but I am not sure.

I would be interested to learn the "more trouble then it's worth" way of doing it.
I have not been able to find any method to retrieve this info. I really don't care where I get the info logged, just so I have it in reference to their post. I prefer to not have the information public, so if it has to go into their thread, I would want to at least change the font color, so it wasn't readily available to all.

Thanks for the reply, any suggestion on how to accomplich this is appreciated.

i'm confused. how do posts get added? and where are the posts stored? wouldn't that be the logical place to store the poster's IP address? i don't think you could get the MAC address unless they were using IE and you used vbscript. ( i could be wrong )
