Completely new and confused! ColdFusion to Html...

I am just starting to look at .html files and I have no idea what I am doing.

History:
Our previous web creator is no longer here, he created the existing site with ColdFusion. I have no idea what it is, how it works or how I can maintain the site.

The Fix:
I want to re-create the site with .html files and FTP to the domain/server.

The Problem:
There is a user id/login that connects via secure agent to an access database. I am lost as to what I need to do to make sure that I make the transition properly. I really do not understand the tags and query's and codes.

I am very sorry to post such an idiotic question. I am sure that most of you are thinking that I need to take a class and learn. I have only ever used FrontPage and my new boss will not spring for it. I have a degree in art and have never had to code before, so I am a bit confused.

You can see the existing site, www.e-hfg.com and aslo view the way I want the site to look, www.julieandwill.com and if you click on the HFG link to the right, you can see how far I have gotten with my trial and error & cutting and pasting.

Thanks for any help or assistance.

Hi Jules, welcome to the site.

The web form ( login ) is submitting to a cold fusion file.. You can tell that the page ends with .cfm after you submit.

I don't know much about cold fusion, but you will have to learn a little about it to make it work.

For websites to talk to databass, they need a server-side language on the web server. PHP and ASP are probably the most common server-side languages, but cold fusion is pretty popular too. Macromedia is the company I believe that makes it.

sorry i can't be more help.

Confusion sets in and I am ok with that...

That is ok. Thank you for your reply. I am really very slow at this and have been trying to open, copy, paste and save all the .cfm files to .html. Reload the site and hope for the best. But for some reason the agent login is not making it through the query commands. I will keep on trying, though.

you may want to post some of the source here, .. use the

tags ( without the spaces in them to display it neatly.

of course, replace your server, username, and password with something fake, but maybe someone can tell by looking at the code what is wrong.

I think that it is too messy... I can hardly understand what I did.

I appreciate the help, though. I will post again if I figure it out and can clean it up a bit.
