Anyone tried making a blog skin?

How does one use HTML to cover the "BlogSpot" ads on www.Blogspot.com blogs? I'm trying to design a basic layout for my blog. Also, how does one set up left and right borders for certian text?

Lots of skins @ www.blogskins.com, but they're in CSS (i think!).

post the code that you're trying to fix, and explain what you're trying to do with it.
