<textarea> capacity? (html)

What is a capacity (maximum length) for <textarea>? I'm facing a problem when I fill the <textarea> with large amount of data and then trying to hit the submit button, the form is not submitting. Then when I put a few words in the <textarea> it's submitted perfectly. How to overcome it?
thanks

what is your form method set to? if it is set to GET , then (depending on the browser) the max you can send is 255 characters.

if it is POST, then it depends on your web server settings.

are you using any server side language? like php or asp? if so, i think there may be a setting for max data set. usually it is in MB.

How much text exactly are you sending?

I don't know the hard limits, but I've successfully posted as much as 280KB of text into a textarea box. Never tried anything bigger.
