Help!!!!!!

HELP.....
I may be in the wrong place but I need help..... I've embedded a sound file in wav format on a web site. The file plays but takes a long time to download. I've checked it out on different computers with different connections...... SAME THING! Once the file is downloaded it plays as soon as the page opens but it has a download period at first access with each computer. Does anyone have an answere for this problem?
THANX

first of all, how big is your file? most likely that is the problem.

the best way to go about this is import the file into flash. you can make the flash movie 1 pixel by 1 pixel so your visitors won't see it.

flash will compress the snot out of it, so some of the quality may be lost. if you want, you can increase the quality of the audio in the export settings. ( event audio )

if flash isn't the way you want to go, then try exporting your wav file at a lower resolution from an audio program. also, make sure it is mono ( as a stereo file is twice the size. )

hope this helps. and yes, we will move this to the html section =)

WAV files are typically pretty large because it is uncompressed audio. Sure, you can reduce the file size by changing the bitrate and making it mono at the expense of quality, but why not just make it an MP3 file? You can compress it to about 1/10th with minimal loss of quality. Is there a particular reason why it has to be a WAV file?

You should convert it into an MP3 and/or make it stream using Flash if you really want to cut down loading time.
