This is off topic but ill post it anyway, its better than starting a new thread. In my experince with boards which is limited, i ony post at a couple. Everyone likes the boards to be neat. Anyway, I am a total newbie to anything that could even be remotely confused with programming or code. REading through the tutorials and what not im still conufused. There oughtta be an introduction to coding in general. Or at leest that would help me a bit. Knowing when to use what, and what code is which.

Cheers

good point. in our old tutorial section, we had a summary of each program language.

we moved the tutorial section to the forums to make it easy to add and moderate tutorials, however i am building a tutorial interface which will make browsing for tutorials much more elegant. included with the tutorials will be a description of the program language.

then again, .. if you are ever confused, the forum is a great place to ask specific questions.

thanks for the feedback.

Another suggestion for a tutorial

I think a general SQL tutorial would be a good idea as well. MySQL is fun but doesn't function like many other databases (PostgreS, Oracle,etc.). I would be willing to write some tuts for it.

Comments?

(yes, I am new here but I like the non-50000 threads a day atmosphere, I think I'll stay)

i have a tutorial on LPC which is not written by me but i am willing to put credit where it is due. it is quite extensive but the language is rather uncommon. its sortof a variant of C (sometimes it looks like other stuff, especially on MUDs with administrators who have different backgrounds) and it is a little difficult to find any really good info on it on the web. there isnt even one book that i know of that has LPC in it. seeing as how it is not by any means a major language, but it is interesting, especially to people looking to build a combat MUD (or a really nice chatroom). let me know where it is acceptable to post this info! thanks
