i think the chatbox should only be available to registered users.

that should keep a bunch of the non-sense off of it.

To put in my two cents I think the chat box is useless. I never understood why people use it, all it is is a forum without a title. In addition it takes up valuable real estate on the front page. If people want to chat check out the IRC channel. In an IRC channel we could more easily ignore and or kick people than in the current chatbox. Maybe if some person with the mad java skillz wanted to write a chat applet that might be better also?
