C++/CLI forum ?

Although some people still use C# to write .NET code, the MSVC++ 2005 supports C++/CLI and a ISO is on its way thanks to ECMA.

C++/CLI seems to be much better and allows you to do native and managed programming.
Although C++/CLI is a bit tougher, since you also need to know the CTS, it is a way forward for better/faster programming without loosing the full control like .NET does.

Although it's hardly used yet, more and more people will use it eventualy when the ISO is out and you will find it also in Linux and OS X.

Any thoughts on this?

P.S. Here are some old good introductional articles:

I doubt fully compatible CLI will show up on linux any time soon. I just don't think the culture's right for it. (And I fear microsoft may have patents that they will try to enforce against anyone who tries to make a conforming implementation)

DJ, you ask if a C++/CLI forum is something realistic. At this very moment, I don't think so. However, depending on how the situaten arises we may consider it. The vision - or the concept if we don't have one - must be set first. If you have one then I definately would like to hear about it.
But right now lets see how it develops on the market.

I don't have a vision for it at the moment since i've moved to cross-platform c++ coding myself, just because i want my apps to work on Linux and OSX.
However i do see many benefits that were already similar in the Borland products like 'property' = BCB __property.
Other stuff like abstract classes and interfaces is also cool especialy when you are writing cross-platform and need several copies of a class for each underlying OS (win32window.h, x11window.h).

It would be hard for M$ to put patents on it, and if they do its probably in the CLR (their version of things).
