reverse engineering software . .

i have this small little program called resource hacker. and well heres what its described to do
"FREEWARE utility to view, modify, add, rename
and delete resources in Win32 executables and
resource files. Incorporates an internal
resource compiler and decompiler. Works on
Win9x, WinNT, Win2000 and WinXP."

im trying to crack some freeware. would this program be good for doing that? when the resource hacker opens up this one freeware file i get something like this

"0002BED4 65 73 00 00 C7 53 79 73 74 65 6D 00 00 81 53 79 es••ÇSystem••Sy
0002BEE4 73 49 6E 69 74 00 10 9D 53 79 73 43 6F 6E 73 74 sInit••SysConst
0002BEF4 00 10 22 52 54 4C 43 6F 6E 73 74 73 00 10 73 41 ••"RTLConsts••sA"

i think its hex . . how do i translate that into non gibberish?

http://nickciske.com/tools/hex.php but on the plus side, what ever you see to your right is the exact no giberish these hex values describe...
Your resource hacker shows you both, now it's up to you to find what part of it is the limiting part of the program, due to limitations you're trying to remove.

If it's freeware then theres no need to crack it...

On the other hand, I think this would be more suitable in a forum like All Other Coding languages so I've moved it..

On the third hand, this forum is mainly for programming questions, not for cracking advices...

plenty of reasons to crack freeware. i learn best first hand. i learned php but getting a premade code, looking at it and figuring out exactly what everything did. sorry for putting it in the wrong forum. is there anyway to to make what the hex values describe clearer. ive looked at hex once before when following mods for AIM. and everytime theres a bunch of period and characters like Ç

redhead's point is that you are using the word 'crack' in the wrong context. with freeware, there is no copy protection or passwords to crack.

Little Hints

A resource hacker will only allow you to change a few things in a program such as icons, menu items, accelerators, etc...that is, a program's RESOURCES. If you want to crack programs then you need a debugger such as w32dasm and an editor such as hiew (hacker's view). Finally, and this is the biggie: you need to know how to program in assembler. If you search for KLee8084 (which is what I used to be called) you will find some of my tutorials on reverse engineering software (check at astalavista.box.sk)
Regards,
Kevin
