Ingres® Million Dollar Challenge

We know you like a challenge…

Here's one you just might love — and so will your bank account — if you decide to accept The Ingres Open Source Million Dollar Challenge.

CA is offering cash awards with a total purse of $1 million to the members of the open source community that develop applications to convert, transform and migrate data from the selected databases to the Ingres database. Applications will be reviewed and selected by a panel of judges from CA and the open source community, and the winners will be announced during caworldsm 2005 in Orlando, Florida.

As part of the announcement, CA presents the Ingres Open Source Million Dollar Challenge to the open source community for development under CA’s Trusted Open Source License (CATOSL) programs.

To participate, download the Ingres software and deliver an operational software program that automatically converts, transforms and migrates data from one or more of the following selected databases:

*
Oracle
*
Microsoft SQL Server
*
Sybase Adaptive Enterprise Server
*
IBM DB2 Universal
*
IBM Informix Dynamic Server
*
MySQL

The Ingres Open Source Million Dollar Challenge runs from August 5, 2004 to February 1, 2005. Please read the terms and conditions and submission guidelines.

make no mistake, reverse engineering is perfectly legal. the dmca only gets involved if you are creating a method for circumvention of protection devices.

now, this "contest" looks lot more like a job which may or may not pay you. CA could get these projects done on their own (they certainly have the money for it), but it would cost them more than a million to do so.
