anyone do any work with SMS? i wanted to experiment with a .net application which can send text messages to cell phones.

i'm looking for a free gateway, or some trial component that works .. com or .net

connect your phone to your comp and sent it
AT commands (specific ones will be outlined
in a manual somewhere).

you connect it with a serial port and talk to
it with that.

i've used javacomm api to talk to it.

nokia has specialised devices for this purpose.

you can send sms via your ordinary modem which you might already have connected to your pc

you just have to find the number of an sms-server, connect to it, encode your message and add some header, send the message

i can help with the encoding, but not with the sms-server (i know 1 in the netherlands but you probably cant use that one)

btw the little program to send sms worked about 2 years ago .. but when i tried to use it last year it didnt work .. dont know why .. maybe the server changed ?
