if they're already running asp, adding php adds to their security risk, cuz now they have 2 web scripting languages to patch instead of one. the server resources excuse is bull, though. the difference versus asp is negligible (unless php is running as a cgi and asp is built into the server).
in my opinion, php is a much better language. however, if *you* can't think of a good reason why you should be using php over asp, maybe you shouldn't be.
