| I have WindowsME on one of my PCs. It's horrible. I've never seen a computer crash as much as that one does (although the actual PC itself is also to blame, if you install WindowsXP on it then it can't find the CD drive... it's weird... you install Windows from the CD drive which then promptly vanishes and crashes horribly if you try to re-install the drive) I took it back to the shop many times and tehy kept returning it in a 'fixed' state, but it was rarely much better.
Other than (or as well as) reformatting and reinstalling you should make sure you have all of the updates, patches etc. because ME really needs them.
Oh, the other thing, you say you've defragged. ME had a ridiculous bug in that meant it didn't work following a defrag. There's a patch on the MS website that fixes it. Why it was ever there to begin with is beyond comprehension. |
