For some reason some folks don't like his writing style much, but I find Harry Fueckes to be quite literate with OOP in PHP, and IMHO you'll find his books quite usefull. You can pick up his two PHP OOP books at sitepoint and his website phppatterns.com is a good resource as well. Not to detract from this site and this forum at all, but the Advanced PHP forum at sitepoint.com usually has some pretty heavy OOP discussion.

I'd also advocate learning some Java, as it should give you a well-rounded sense of what OOP is all about. Aside from that, you'll note that PHP 5 classes and objects borrow alot from Java's style.

Other good OOP books / resources:

zend.com - articles and PHP forums, good OOP coverage and tutorials

liquidpulse.net - tutorial on PHP OOP

artima.com - good articles on Java / OOP development

Design Patterns: Gamma,Helm,Johnson,Vlissides - many feel this is the book on OOP and design patterns, although I'd recommend considering it after you've learned OOP and potentially worked on a couple of projects with it.

Obviously, we at codenewbie have some experience on the subject as well so any questions you have, feel free.
